Roam Taupo sits directly on the Great Lake Pathway - one of New Zealand's most scenic walking and cycling tracks, running along the water's edge all the way into Taupo town centre, about 15 minutes on foot. Cafes, restaurants, boutique shops, and the popular Saturday morning market are all an easy stroll away. Hot Water Beach - a natural geothermal spot where warm springs bubble up through the sand at the lake's edge - is just a 5-minute walk along the pathway. No car needed for any of it.

Complimentary kayaks and life jackets are available for all guests, with direct lake access right from the property - you can be on the water in seconds. Lake Taupo is one of New Zealand's best swimming lakes, and the water is right at your door - ideal for an early morning swim or a sunset dip. A short walk along the pathway brings you to Hot Water Beach, a unique geothermal stretch of shoreline where warm springs naturally heat the water - a favourite with guests of all ages.
Things to do near Roam Taupo
The Ironman New Zealand run course passes right outside the property, making Roam Taupo one of the best-positioned bases for athletes and supporters during race week. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing - widely regarded as one of the best one-day walks in the world - is about an hour's drive away, and Whakapapa ski field on Mt Ruapehu is under an hour for winter visitors. Closer to home, Huka Falls, Craters of the Moon geothermal park, and the boat departure points for the Maori Rock Carvings are all a short drive from the property. The Taupo Cycle Challenge route also runs through town for cycling enthusiasts.
